March 2021 Family Newsletter
Montessori Casa de los Ninos
Thank you to all our Casa de los Ninos families who joined us in our February Family Friday. We learned so much about how to support our students during virtual learning. Here are some great ideas to keep in mind:
Have a designated place for student learning
Have all instructional materials gathered together and stored in an open box or basket
Practice daily routines such as:
How we get ready in the morning
Getting/Putting away instructional materials
Cleaning up my learning area
We invite you to join us at our next Casa de los Ninos Family Friday on
Friday, March 12th from 8:30-9:00 a.m.
We hope to see you there!
California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
We wanted to provide you with information about the upcoming California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), which begins in April for all students in grades three through eight.
There was no State testing last year due to the onset of the pandemic. Our federal government has set the expectation that all states conduct testing this year. We are mandated to administer these tests and students must use district chromebooks for access. There is a secure browser installed on every district chromebook and that is the required component for State testing.
We understand that some of our students have been using personal devices to participate in online learning. If your child does not have a district chromebook, please notify LMEC as soon as possible. If your child is experiencing difficulty with his or her district chromebook,
please CLICK HERE to determine the closest Device Exchange Location so that you can exchange your child's faulty device. Please ask your child about his or her chromebook, as well, because we are learning about computer issues that students are not reporting to parents. We ask that you do this as soon as possible.
We will also ask all third through eighth grade teachers to post it in their online classrooms or send it to you directly through Class Dojo or Remind. We appreciate your support in this.

Staff Spotlight ~ Ms. Sally Soliz
My name is Sally Soliz and I have worked for San Diego Unified for 25+ years. I started as a college student worker then worked my way up to Special Education Assistant, Guidance/Attendance Assistant to School Clerk. I am currently back in college to get my AA in Business Management/Human Resource Management. Education is so important!
I have worked in the Logan Heights community for 18 years. It has been great seeing the students grow throughout the years. I especially love when they come back to say hi. I look forward to seeing LMEC develop in the next couple of years. Our community deserves it!
